Imagination Library

Fill your home library with books that will spark your child's imagination and inspire a love of reading.

Mailed to your child monthly until their 5th birthday, each book is a free gift for your child to keep. This service is made possible with funding from the Westerville Library Foundation, in partnership with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.

Who is eligible?

  • Children younger than age 5,
  • who live within the Westerville City School District

How does it work?

  • Your child will receive age-appropriate books, carefully selected by Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.*
  • Once a month, a new book will be mailed directly to your home.
  • After your child has been registered, the first book will arrive within 8-10 weeks.
  • This service is provided at no cost to your family until your child's 5th birthday or you move out of the Westerville City School District.

*Titles are selected based on specific themes & concepts. Current selections are often posted on the Imagination Library's blog.

What do I need to do?

  • Submit the registration form below.*
  • To track the status of your child's books or change your address, log into your account.
  • Read with your child.

About Dolly Parton's Imagination Library

With support from local communities, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library makes it possible for children ages 0 to 5 to receive is a 60-volume set of books beginning with the children's classic The Little Engine that Could.

Currently over 1,600 local communities provide the Imagination Library to over 750,000 children each and every month. Already statistics and independent reports have shown Dolly Parton's Imagination Library drastically improves early childhood literacy for children enrolled in the program. Further studies have shown improved scores during early literacy testing. For more information, visit their website.

About the Westerville Library Foundation

This program is made possible by the support of the Westerville Library Foundation. For the next five years, the Foundation is committed to raising the funds to pay the fee of $25 per year for each child who registers. Currently, approximately 5,500 children qualify.
