Library selected for $1,000 Grow with Google grant

Westerville, OH - The American Library Association (ALA) has announced that the Westerville Public Library was selected to participate in Libraries Lead with Digital Skills, an initiative of ALA and the Public Library Association (PLA), sponsored by Grow with Google, the tech company’s economic opportunity initiative. 

The $1,000 mini-grant will be used to promote digital skills within the community. The library will use the funding to purchase a smartphone and accessories that will be used to demonstrate augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) solutions. 

In addition, various Grow with Google tools will be incorporated into the curriculum for these upcoming events. And self-directed kiosks will be available to introduce the community to job search and business solutions. Customers can learn how to:

Dedicated to digital inclusion, the library is excited to increase access to and awareness of these burgeoning technologies. With these tools, today's job seekers can develop digital skills for the evolving workforce while business owners can increase reach to potential customers.
